Strategic Communications for Nonprofits:
The Fundamentals of Planning and Practice
NSC is pleased to offer for 2010, Strategic Communications: The Fundamentals of Planning and Practice for Nonprofits—a four-part seminar designed for non-profit executives with limited knowledge of and/or experience with communications planning. This seminar is offered to health-related nonprofits (eligible for MFH funding).

This unique course will be led by Rebeccah Bennett of Vector Communications Corporation.
Seminar attendees will learn about the field of strategic communications with particular emphasis on communications planning.
As a result of their training, participants:

Will become familiar with the components of a standard communications plan including goals, objectives, target audiences, key messages, marketing strategies, communications tactics and evaluation measures.

Will be able to determine their organizations’ communications needs;

Gauge the effectiveness of their existing communications activities;

Customize their own communications plans; engage in intentional relationship building with groups critical to their missions; and
-
Establish evaluation measures for their communications efforts

Learn about the latest advancements in marketing and social technology, including social media marketing, social marketing, and electronic outreach.
The four-session series will be offered from 10:00 am to 4:00pm on March 24, April 21, May 26, and June 16, 2010 in St. Louis at NSC’s office Union Square Plaza, 326 S. 21st Street, Suite 300-302, St. Louis MO 63103. A commitment to participate in all four classroom sessions of the series, and coaching activities with the instructor, is required. There is a nominal fee of $250 per organization. Organizations are required to send two participants. Space is limited to ten organizations to ensure quality of training.
In the Letter of Intent, please address (maximum one-typed page, minimum 12 font):

Your organization’s current communication activity, including each targeted audience.

Participation from staff and the commitment of your staff to do the work necessary to acquire new communications skills and support the ongoing communication process.

Challenges or obstacles relative to your organization communication activity.

The impact participation in this program may have on your organization’s ability to accomplish its mission.
Please include the Board Chair’s signature, along with the Executive Director’s signatures on the Letter of Intent.
